The AquaLab research team, from the Okeanos centre at the University of the Azores (UAç), presented scientific advances in the field of controlled limpet reproduction at the Aquaculture Europe 2025 conference, held in Valencia (Spain) from 22 to 25 September 2025.
During the conference, the results of the study “Development of limpet reproduction; spawning induction in Patella aspera and P. gomesii from the Azores” were disseminated. The study was carried out within one of the strategic research lines of the ACUICONECTA project and is also part of the PhD research of Pedro Nascimento.
This preliminary work focuses on optimising broodstock conditioning and spawning induction, contributing to the advancement of sustainable aquaculture practices and the responsible use of marine resources.
