Between September 11 and 17, following their participation in the presentation sessions ([link to previous news]), the ACUICONECTA working group traveled to the island of São Vicente, home to the facilities of the Institute of Engineering and Marine Sciences (ISECMAR) at the Atlantic Technical University.
The stay in São Vicente made it possible to carry out key actions planned in the project, including:

Coordination and planning meetings for joint actions in ACUICONECTA with the president of ISECMAR, Professor Mestre José Neves, and his technical team.

Training of local staff, including a workshop held on September 16 in Mindelo (also streamed online), with the participation of 15 people in training or already active in the fields of marine sciences and aquaculture.

Meetings with local companies specialized in shipbuilding and fiberglass manufacturing, with the aim of assessing the feasibility of producing microalgae cultivation reactors in this material for installation at ISECMAR, aimed at scaling up indoor cultures to outdoor conditions.

Visit to the ELECTRA desalination plant, where meetings were held with technical staff and brine samples were collected for physicochemical analysis and assessment of their suitability for algae cultivation.
