Knowledge Exchange and Training Sessions on Aquaculture and Biotechnology
Gran Canaria, January 30–31, 2025
The Knowledge Exchange Sessions on Aquaculture and Biotechnology were held within the framework of the Interreg MAC projects ACUICONECTA (1/MAC/1/1.1/0123), NATUREXT (1/MAC/2/2.6/0075), and CALYPSO (1/MAC/1/1.1/0088), with the goal of promoting the exchange of knowledge on the latest developments in sustainable aquaculture and biotechnology. The event addressed key topics such as sustainable production, the restoration of fertile soils using algae, and the valorization of biomass through extraction techniques.
Throughout the sessions, experts from various institutions, companies, and research centers shared progress in areas such as plant and animal aquaculture, the marketing of seafood products in local markets, and the potential of marine extracts in biotechnological applications.
These sessions offered a valuable opportunity to generate synergies between academia, the private sector, and public administrations, fostering research and the development of new technological solutions in the fields of biotechnology and aquaculture.
The session on January 30 took place at the Multipurpose Hall of the Canary Islands Science and Technology Park Foundation in Tafira, while the January 31 session was held at the facilities of the Instituto Tecnológico de Canarias in Pozo Izquierdo.
