On March 27th, 2026, the Experimental Aquaculture Laboratory (AquaLab), part of the Institute of Marine Sciences Research (IICM-OKEANOS) at the University of the Azores, opened its doors to students from the Master’s Degree in Integrated Ocean Studies, offering them an immersive experience in scientific research applied to aquaculture.
During the visit, students had the opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the infrastructures and projects contributing to the development of the aquaculture sector in the region, as well as the work carried out by the institution’s researchers and technical staff.
ACUICONECTA was one of the key highlights of the visit, allowing students to discover initiatives focused on innovation and international collaboration aimed at promoting a more sustainable and resilient aquaculture sector.
For the participating students, this initiative represented not only a valuable learning opportunity and a closer connection to applied research, but also an inspiring perspective on the fundamental role of science and innovation in the future of the oceans and the blue economy.
