Société Générale de Surveillance (SGS) operates globally as a leader in inspection, verification, testing, and certification services, with operations spanning 11 main industrial sectors. The company operates across the entire value chain—from research and control to final product delivery to the consumer. In this project, SGS brings added value through its cross-sector experience in R&D&I projects, both in management and coordination, as well as in the technical development and implementation of solutions. It also contributes through its state-of-the-art facilities and laboratories, advanced technology, and highly qualified human resources, all essential for the success of this initiative. SGS’s involvement in this project provides a valuable strategy to test the potential of developed technologies and solutions directly in international markets, while also promoting exchange between companies and research institutions. This development aims to create services and products that can be commercialized throughout the Macaronesia region, taking into account the adaptability to different cultures and local needs. It also seeks to build strategic alliances and foster knowledge and technology exchange, creating synergies and mutual growth opportunities, as well as improving the efficiency of production and commercialization processes.
SGS in ACUICONECTA: within ACUICONECTA, as part of the effort to enhance the nutritional properties of aquaculture products by improving their biochemical profile, SGS will work with the consortium to develop certifications that help identify products rich in omega-3 fatty acids of interest for human nutrition through the creation of appropriate labeling. This will allow producers to highlight their efforts to improve the nutritional content of their products and provide consumers with reliable information about the quality of the food they purchase. Regarding food safety in aquaculture production, SGS will develop a specific certification focused on the absence of heavy metals in fishery and aquaculture products. SGS will also take part in forums and events to share experiences and mutual needs with stakeholders in the aquaculture sector.
