Presentation Day of the New Interreg MAC Projects in São Tomé and Príncipe

The Instituto Tecnológico de Canarias (ITC), as Lead Partner of the ACUICONECTA project, participated in the Welcome Day held on December 12, 2024, in São Tomé and Príncipe. The event was organized as part of the strategic ATLANTE project, with the objective of presenting the projects approved in the 1st call of the Interreg MAC 2021–2027 programme.
During the session, the ACUICONECTA project was presented, highlighting the role of the Direcção das Pescas e Aquacultura de São Tomé e Príncipe as a Third-Country African Partner. The presentation also included an overview of the project’s objectives and its roadmap.
The visit to São Tomé strengthened collaboration ties among participating entities. Institutional meetings were held at the headquarters of the Direcção das Pescas e Aquacultura, and technical visits were made to key infrastructures for the development of pilot aquaculture activities. Among the sites visited were the Centro de Aperfeiçoamento Técnico Agro-Pecuário, identified as a potential site for land-based aquaculture, and other areas suitable for marine aquaculture pilots. The delegation also visited the technical facilities of the Direcção das Pescas e Aquacultura, which include analysis laboratories and specialized staff.
These activities contributed to a better understanding of the technical and operational capacity of the partner in São Tomé and Príncipe, laying the groundwork for more efficient collaboration aligned with the project’s needs.
