Between 17 and 20 November 2025, research staff from the NUTRAHLIPIDS and BIOECOMAC groups at the Universidad de La Laguna (ULL) travelled to the island of São Vicente, in Cabo Verde, to carry out, in collaboration with the local partner Universidade Técnica do Atlântico (UTA), three intensive and highly productive days of training and knowledge exchange.
The activities, held at the ISECMAR-UTA facilities on the Ribeira de Julião campus, were attended by around twenty UTA students per day and included the following training sessions:

Workshop: Theoretical–practical tutorial on lipid extraction (17/11/2025)

Workshop: Aquaculture: building bridges of cooperation between the Canary Islands and Africa (18/11/2025)

Workshop: Corals in warm oceans (19/11/2025)

Training session: Decapsulation and hatching of Artemia cysts and observation of zooxanthellae and sea urchin larvae (20/11/2025)
The organizing team included Dr Antonio Pinto and Dr Corrine Almeida (UTA), together with Dr Covadonga Rodríguez, Dr Adriana Rodríguez, and Nieves Guadalupe (ULL).
This event has made a substantial contribution to the training and capacity building of personnel in Cabo Verde, strengthening the foundations for long-term exchange and fostering collaborative relationships in shared strategic areas, such as aquaculture and marine biotechnology, within the framework of ACUICONECTA.
